Senior Controls and Software Engineer

Prodrive Advanced Technology (AT) operates across a wide range of industries including automotive, defence, marine and renewable energy. We specialise in the design, development and integration of electromechanical control systems, and mechanical system architectures for vehicles and other applications.

Applications range from high performance supercars and ultra-luxury passenger vehicles to the very latest in electric vehicle technology and government funded research programmes.

We operate from problem identification, root cause or requirement, into concept definition and sign off, all the way through to production release. Within these phases we deploy concept design, then detailed design including manufacturing considerations.

We are looking for an experienced Controls and Software Engineer to design and deliver solutions for a variety of engineering projects across the design and implementation of control strategies and software, both from a 'clean sheet of paper' as well as the development of existing systems. This may involve interfacing with analysis, systems, electrical/electronics and vehicle component systems engineers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Enable functionality and refinement through intelligent controls and software solutions
  • Control system strategy design, specification and simulation
  • Requirements elicitation and decomposition
  • Creation and maintenance of detailed software design documents (software architecture definition, software design documents)
  • Implementation (software build) and development (e.g. calibration) of control strategy
  • Support mechanical, electrical, and electronic design work with systems and software engineering as required
  • Execution and development of test activities, including setup, testing and reporting to meet the objectives of the project
  • Technical liaison with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and internal stakeholders

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Systems or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Clearly communicate and articulate technical concepts and ideas
  • Computer simulation (e.g.  vehicle simulation, eMachine, mechatronic actuation etc.)
  • Control theory and practical strategy development and calibration
  • Familiarity with appropriate software, e.g.
    • MATLAB, Simulink for simulation and auto-coding
    • C/C++ in an embedded real-time environment
    • Data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g Vector toolsuite, INCA)
    • Requirements and test case management tools (e.g DOORS, Jama, Codebeamer, vTest)
  • A practical approach to solving real-world problems

What can we offer you?

  • An attractive salary which will grow in line with your ongoing development and impact
  • Private medical cover
  • Car allowance
  • 25 days holiday (which increases with long service) with an opportunity to purchase up to 15 extra days
  • Training opportunities for continuing professional development
  • Onsite subsidised staff restaurant
  • Car and pension salary sacrifice schemes
  • Cyclescheme
  • Exercise classes
  • Paid time off for volunteering
  • Consultations with our Fit 4 Life expert
  • Social events throughout the year
  • Exclusive company discounts
  • Life assurance
