We are looking for a Senior Buyer to work closely with engineers to purchase goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met. Whilst considering price, quality and delivery.

Key responsibilities.

  • Place purchase orders for components & services in line with requirements generated via the Prodrive MRP system and manual requirements generated via the relevant authorised supervisors/project release process.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate and supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on specific projects or business operations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
  • Research & evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs wherever possible.
  • Negotiate all terms and conditions, in line with the Prodrive business operating procedures ensuring the best total acquisition costs are met.
  • Continually monitor suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery adherence.
  • Assess tenders & quotations from potential suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers inline with organisational target and requirements.
  • Mentor & coach junior members of the purchasing team to assist in their development within the organisation.
  • Capable of presenting commercial information which enables sourcing decisions to be made, whilst identifying potential risks
  • Contact supplier to resolve price quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
  • Provide information and support as required to the Purchasing Team departmental managers and other internal customers, his will include but not be limited to delivery dates and pricing.
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
  • To play an active role in achieving departmental objectives such as cost reduction targets year on year, supplier reduction and improved stock management.
  • Ad-hoc duties as specified by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Ensure all relevant ISO9001 procedures are adhered to.
  • Maintain best working practices at all times in line with Prodrive BOP’s and Health & Safety policy guidelines.

Who are we looking for?

  • Good Understanding & working knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge & understanding of purchasing processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with use of the MS Office suite
  • Experience of using MRP/ERP manufacturing systems, and analysing data accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings,
  • Need to be fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to create – understand – manipulate and format data from a variety of sources and present where applicable.
