Prodrive Advanced Technology (AT) operates across a wide range of industries including automotive, defence, marine and renewable energy. We specialise in the design, development and integration of electromechanical control systems, and mechanical system architectures for vehicles and other applications.

Applications range from high performance supercars and ultra-luxury passenger vehicles to the very latest in electric vehicle technology and government funded research programmes.

We operate from problem identification, root cause or requirement, into concept definition and sign off, all the way through to production release. Within these phases we deploy concept design, then detailed design including manufacturing considerations.

We are seeking an experienced Production & Inspection Manager to establish a vision for the Machine Shop and Inspection environments and manage and lead both teams to help create a cohesive “Manufacturing Excellence Centre” that will help Prodrive AT Operations grow our manufacturing capability, product portfolio and ROI – whilst offering first class service to our Motorsport division.

Key responsibilities:

Continuous Improvement:

  • To drive cost competitive manufacturing through continuous improvement, as well as enhancing on time delivery.
  • Manufacturing efficiency optimisation through metric based leadership and adherence to standard processes.
  • Manage cost and delivery improvement activities.

Operational Management:

  • Track and actively steer the teams towards performing against KPI’s.
  • Deliver production plan on time to secure on time customer deliveries.
  • Ensure that the quality system is in place and adhered to, to deliver the highest standards. 
  • Lead the business unit on creating budget prices/quotes for new jobs, and KPI’s – as well as inspection lead time estimates.

People Management:

  • Driving daily output to production.
  • Organise Inspection resource to ensure priorities are managed effectively.
  • Establishing and maintaining visual management in the machine shop.
  • Daily toolbox of priorities and initiatives for machinists.

Strategic Development:

  • Involvement in drafting business cases for investment in manufacturing technology
  • Help promote the right culture which support a “Premium manufacturing facility” supporting a range of high-profile clients.

Who are we looking for?

  • Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Significant level of operational experience, preferably within Automotive or similar. Knowledge of CNC machining including batch work and prototypes is advantageous.
  • CAD/CAM, experience preferred but not essential.
  • Thorough understanding of metrological inspection methods – in particular CMM.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T feature controls.
  • Experience in production management of manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in new facility set-up, re-layout activities
  • Sound knowledge of OHSS & Quality systems (i.e., ISO 9001, APQP, 5S)
