We are the world’s leading independent motorsport company and the business behind some of the greatest names and achievements in motorsport over the last 40 years. For more than 15 years we have been the team behind Aston Martin Racing and our Rally Raid Championship team and customer programme is experiencing rapid growth.

Data is at the forefront of Motorsport’s rapid development, playing an essential part throughout the entire process - from initial R&D and testing through competition. As our Data Engineer for the Rally Raid team, you will take responsibility for the vehicle’s data architecture, ensuring quality of the information gathered and perform relevant analysis for the evaluation and optimisation of the rally car’s performance and reliability. This role requires international travel to test and rally events within the World Rally Raid Championship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Car sensor specification, calibration, and testing for events and pre-event testing in accordance with guidelines set by the Rally Engineering Group. Ensure that car commences each event, and is maintained throughout, with the optimum configuration.
  • Prompt publication of accurate and detailed Engineering documents before (simulation analysis, sensitivity studies, system configuration) and after each event and pre-event test (data findings, simulation correlation, performance of failsafe strategies, etc.).
  • Ensure good communication with the crew, engine, and design groups regarding all channel strategies, whether to monitor, control, or failsafe contingencies. Additionally, ensure that driver requests are communicated appropriately within the team.
  • Ensure that car complies with current technical regulations.
  • Detailed, accurate and professional reporting of technical issues utilising the PICR process as required. Prompt attention to PICRs according to their priority.

Who are we looking for?

Our ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical or Automotive Engineering), with experience in a similar engineering role for a manufacturer team in the WRC/Rally Raid. You will ideally have knowledge of rally car design and architecture, and be able to effectively communicate data findings to Rally Engineers and lead data troubleshooting efforts at test and rally events. You will be proficient in data analysis software programs (e.g., Motec i2, WinDarab, ATLAS, etc.), with hands-on experience with data acquisition hardware (loom, data logger, sensor technologies, etc.) and relevant software. A good understanding of vehicle dynamics theory and application, as well as the ability to develop internal tools/software for data processing and analysis is essential to be successful in this role.

What can we offer you?

  • An attractive salary which will grow in line with your ongoing development and impact
